Some collaborations just make sense. This was one of them.
Before BagelBoy existed and before OLAF became one of Amsterdam’s best known fashion brands, Lars and Olaf were colleagues. They worked together, eventually went their separate ways and both started building something of their own.
Fast forward 20 years and they were back together. This time with their own brands.
To celebrate the launch of the new OLAF running collection, BagelBoy and OLAF joined forces for a shakeout run, a proper carb load and a limited edition OLAF Bagel.
From Colleagues to Founders
Around 20 years ago, Lars and Olaf worked together. BagelBoy did not exist yet and OLAF was still far in the future.
A lot happened in between.
Olaf built OLAF into an Amsterdam based fashion label with a strong focus on clean design, creativity and community.
Lars started BagelBoy, turning a family idea into an Amsterdam bagel brand with multiple locations, fresh sourdough bagels, specialty coffee, signature matcha and a growing community of its own.
The brands are different, but they share a lot. Both are proudly from Amsterdam. Both care about design, quality and culture. Most importantly, both believe that a brand should bring people together.
That made a BagelBoy x OLAF collaboration feel like a natural next step.
A Saturday Morning Shakeout Run
The collaboration took place on Saturday 20 September 2025, the day before the Dam tot Damloop.
OLAF ambassadors and team members from both brands came together in Amsterdam for a short and relaxed shakeout run. The event celebrated the launch of the new OLAF running collection and gave everyone a chance to move, meet and get ready for race day.
The pace was not important. It was about starting the weekend together and enjoying the energy of running through Amsterdam as a group.
The following day, runners took on the Dam tot Damloop. The famous 10 English Mile race covers 16.1 kilometres from Amsterdam to Zaandam and is one of the biggest running events in the Netherlands.
A relaxed run on Saturday followed by the real race on Sunday. A pretty good weekend if you ask us.
Time for the Carb Load
After the run came the most important part: the food.
Everyone got together for a proper BagelBoy carb load with fresh sourdough bagels, coffee and good energy.
Bagels and running are a very good match. They are filling, easy to eat and even better when shared with a group. But for this event, we wanted to create something more special than our regular menu.
So together with OLAF, we created the limited edition OLAF Bagel.
More Than Fashion and Food
The BagelBoy x OLAF collaboration was about more than a new running collection or a limited edition bagel. It was about bringing two Amsterdam communities together.
OLAF brought fashion, running and its community of ambassadors. BagelBoy brought fresh bagels, hospitality and a place for everyone to come together after the run.
The shakeout run gave people a reason to meet. The carb load gave them a reason to stay. The OLAF Bagel gave them something to remember.
That is exactly the kind of collaboration we love.
A Full Circle Moment
For Lars and Olaf, this collaboration was also a personal moment.
They first met as colleagues around 20 years ago. Now they were working together again as founders of their own brands.
A lot can change in 20 years, but good connections have a way of coming back.
What started in the workplace all those years ago became an Amsterdam run, a full shop and a limited edition bagel.
Not a bad way to meet again.
